January Astrological Aspects You Need to be Aware of
January 14 – Uranus goes direct in Taurus. Uranus, ruler of Aquarius, is the planet of freedom, truth and divine insight, has been in the very grounded, nature-loving, bull-headed sign of Taurus. With its direct move out of retrograde, there will be a desire to break free from what is FALSE and inauthentic. Don't assume what you hear is true or false. If you are consciously aware of information that your brain is recognizing as important, track down the source of that information. Look for supporting documentation AND alternative points of view. You must use your head and your heart to decide for yourself what the truth is. Might as well start getting good at that.
Uranus’ direct station is the divine go-ahead to do what you must do. However, since stationing Uranus is also square to Jupiter, beware of things blowing out of proportion. Take a deep breath and a step back, and make sure of your footing before you leap into the fray.
January 15 – Sun conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn. The Sun is the source of all light in our Solar System and Pluto is the god of the Underworld, which has no sunlight shining there. Expect dark secrets to be brought to light. Expect deep truths to pierce the bright heart. Light and darkness require self-awareness and introspection. There must be honesty within yourself. The power that comes with this aspect is profound. Notice where your surprises pop up.
January 18 – Jupiter in Aquarius will square Uranus in Taurus. Remember how Saturn and Jupiter and Pluto impacted the entire world throughout 2020? This is the second most important transit of 2021, after THE MOST IMPORTANT TRANSIT of 2021 with Saturn square Uranus on February 17th. This is also a very brief transit, and it will be very intense!
When Jupiter squares Uranus, we will have a collision of two of the biggest planets in fixed signs with a major confrontation. In mythology, Uranus is grandfather to Jupiter. Expect the OLD/traditional/red/head to try to slam dunk the NEW/revolutionary/blue/heart. Whatever needs to be done, will get done now. The friction between the old and the new will blast the old beliefs and dogmas with a razor-sharp reality check. Jupiter exposes and magnifies the planet it touches. Jupiter will trigger and even blow Uranus themes – freedom, truth, liberation – out of proportion. There is no going back with this transit.
January 20 – Sun enters Aquarius. This is when we will get an even better sense of the type of energies we’ll get to deal with in the next year (and beyond).
January 21 – Mars is conjunct Uranus in Taurus is the first Mars-Uranus conjunction in Taurus since 1942 – so this is a completely new Martian energy very few of us have ever witnessed or recall. Normally, Taurus is calm and steady, until they erupt (see red) seemingly out of nowhere, when you don’t want to be around them. Mars and Uranus are further triggered by a square to Jupiter and a conjunction with the Black Moon Lilith. This is NOT an energy to be messed with.
Mars’ anger can turn into rage (Lilith) and Uranus can easily blow things out of proportion. The desire to act from your deepest values is so powerful, that you will go beyond common sense or what’s socially acceptable. Channel this raw energy into something constructive. Mars will give you the drive, and Uranus will inspire you, and as a result, you can achieve things that you otherwise never thought were possible.
January 24 – Sun is conjunct Saturn in Aquarius. We have one Sun-Saturn conjunction each year, and that’s our yearly opportunity to birth a new Saturn project. Saturn is the planet of hard work, determination, commitment, and mastery. In what type of project would you like to attract this type of energy? No great thing has ever been built without Saturn. So if you want to build something great, you want to tap into Saturn’s energy this day.
January 29 – The Sun is conjunct Jupiter in Aquarius. This is a great time to formulate or bring your bigger-than-life vision to life. Sun is your identity and Jupiter is your beliefs and higher truth. Sun conjunct Jupiter is an excellent time to examine – and update – your beliefs and what holds true for you.
January 31 – Mercury goes retrograde in Aquarius. This is the first time Mercury goes retrograde in an Air sign since 2015. In 2020, Mercury turned retrograde in Water signs, so it was influencing us at an emotional level. In 2021 Mercury will go retrograde in Air signs, so it will influence us at a mental level. Any Mercury retrograde will point to what needs to be reviewed, reassessed, and reinvented in your life.
